New Generation Spray Foam Insulation

In the world of attic insulation, few innovations have had as much impact as spray foam. Professionally installed, spray foam envelops all the cracks, crevices, and openings in an area to prevent air and heat loss. It provides an air barrier, vapour barrier and insulation all in one application ā€“ and it helps eliminate drafts, optimize HVAC efficiency and reduce heating bills.

Welcome to the Future: Introducing New Generation Spray Foam Insulation

When it comes to insulating homes, commercial buildings and other structures, it is important to get the job done right the first time around. In many cases, a poorly insulated space will cost more in energy bills and repairs than the initial investment that goes into the spray foam installation.

At Great Northern Insulation, we are dedicated to ensuring that our clients receive the best possible service. This includes ensuring that the proper products and techniques are used throughout an entire project. For this reason, we always recommend hiring a professional contractor for any spray foam insulation projects.

In recent years, spray polyurethane foam has become more eco-friendly, due to advancements in blowing agent technology. Many manufacturers are now using HFO (hydrofluoroolefin) blowing agents, which have only a fraction of the global warming potential of the Chlorofluorocarbons and Hydrochlorofluorocarbons used in previous generations of spray polyurethane foam. Demilec, for example, is among a number of companies with distribution in both the United States and Canada now offering a medium-density closed-cell spray foam called Solstice LBA. This product uses a new generation blowing agent that is derived from naturally occurring methyl methanoate. Regardless of what product is used, it is always critical to wear protective gear, including goggles and a respirator, when applying spray foam. The caustic substance that forms before the spray insulation dries can cause blurred vision and breathing problems.
